Checked October 26, 2026. Prices were read on each vendor's own pricing page. Some tools (Avoca and, in practice, Jobber's receptionist) do not give a price we could rely on; we say so. Prices change: re-check before you buy. Dooza Crew is our product and our top pick for small landscaping businesses; we say why, and where the others fit better.

Best AI tools for landscapers: the short answer

Our top pick for a small landscaping or lawn care business is Dooza Crew: AI employees that answer calls, chase quotes and draft the follow-up emails you never get to, $49 a month for the whole organization, and it asks before it sends anything. If you already run Jobber or Housecall Pro, check their built-in AI receptionists first. For measuring lawns to quote, Deep Lawn. For a stand-alone AI phone line, Trillet or Goodcall. For call notes, Fathom has a free plan.

How many landscapers use AI in 2026

Most landscape companies are still on the sidelines. The National Association of Landscape Professionals wrote up a survey run by Aspire: "over 1,000 landscape companies reported they believe artificial intelligence will make the biggest difference in field operations, smart routing and scheduling. Despite this attitude, only 17 percent of companies said they are currently leveraging AI."

The write-up is from July 2025 and Aspire sells landscaping software, so read it as one survey, not a census. It still points somewhere useful: the owners who believe AI helps are mostly not using it yet, and the cheapest first step is usually the office, not the field. Missed calls in mowing season, quotes that never get a follow-up, and paperwork in the evening. The tools below cover those.

The tools, one by one

1. Dooza Crew (our product, top pick): AI employees for the landscaping office

Most small landscapers lose work in the gaps: a call you could not take from behind a mower, a quote that never got a follow-up, a seasonal reminder nobody sent. Crew gives your company AI employees, each with its own computer and browser and its own job. They work around the clock, work with your team in one chat, and pass work to each other. Before one sends an email or clicks Send, Submit or Pay, it asks you to Approve, Edit or Reject.

Example jobs you could give it: you could give one agent the job of answering the phone and taking a message for every new quote request; another the job of drafting a polite follow-up to every quote that has gone quiet; another the job of drafting reminder emails for seasonal services such as spring cleanups or aeration; another the job of filling a fillable PDF or Excel form you upload, such as a crew checklist or a service agreement. Crew works in web-based tools you log in to with a browser, and you type passwords and 2FA codes yourself.

  • Forms: it fills fillable PDF, Word and Excel files you upload. Scanned PDFs without form fields cannot be filled.
  • Phones: Crew agents take phone calls too, included in the plan.
  • Price: free for 7 days (card required), then $49 a month for the whole organization (unlimited users and agents), AI usage included with a hard spending cap. At the cap it pauses and tells you.
  • Watch for: no landscaping software (Jobber, LMN, Aspire or any other) is certified or integrated with it, so it does not sync with your scheduling system; it works only in web tools you log in to. It is not a licensed pesticide applicator or an arborist: quotes, chemical and safety decisions stay with you.

Try Dooza Crew free for 7 days.

2. Jobber: an AI Receptionist inside the scheduling tool

Jobber is popular home-service software that landscapers use for quotes, scheduling and invoices. Its AI Receptionist is described on Jobber's pages this way: "Jobber Receptionist can capture a job request and book the visit during the call using the online booking settings you've already configured." It can also take messages and reschedule or cancel visits, and you can set keywords such as "emergency" to send a call straight to you.

  • Price: not clear. Jobber's help center says the Receptionist is included on the Plus plan and can be added to select plans for $29 a month with 30 conversations, while a Jobber article says it starts at $99 a month. Jobber's pricing page returned an error to us, so we do not quote a figure; check at checkout.
  • Free trial: not read.
  • Watch for: conflicting prices on Jobber's own pages, and it is most useful if your jobs already live in Jobber. These pages were read through search results, not a direct fetch.

3. Housecall Pro: field service software with a CSR AI

Housecall Pro handles scheduling, dispatch and invoicing for home-service trades, including lawn care. Its menu lists "Customer Service Rep AI": "Answers calls and books jobs 24/7 so you never miss an opportunity."

4. Deep Lawn: AI measuring and quoting for lawn and snow

Deep Lawn is a quoting tool for lawn and snow services, and its home page is branded "Deep Lawn AI" with the line "Every turf area, measured". Its pricing page explains the unit: "Every property you quote uses one search."

5. Avoca: an AI front office with a lawn care page

Avoca has a dedicated lawn care page and describes "A custom, human-sounding AI agent that answers calls, handles objections, books jobs into your CRM, and routes emergencies. 24/7." The word landscaping does not appear on that page.

  • Price: not published. You book a demo.
  • Free trial: none stated.
  • Watch for: demo-only and aimed at larger home-service companies, so it may be more than a three-truck crew needs.

6. Goodcall: AI phone answering with a free demo agent

Goodcall builds an AI agent for your business line. Its pricing page says "Start free with a demo agent. Add a number when you're ready." You can change the agent by describing the change in plain English.

  • Price: "$79" (Starter), $129 (Growth) and $299 (Scale) a month. Billing is per unique customer: one phone number counts once a month.
  • Free trial: a free demo agent; you pay only when you connect a number.
  • Watch for: per-customer billing means a busy spring costs more, and it is not landscaping-specific.

7. Trillet: a slim AI receptionist

Trillet's AI Receptionist "answers the inbound calls you miss, books appointments, and sends you summaries".

8. Smith.ai: call answering and intake

Smith.ai answers calls and takes messages and intake for small businesses. It is not landscaping-specific.

9. Fathom: free AI notes for calls

Fathom records and transcribes video calls with "Instant AI call summaries". Useful for commercial property walk-throughs held on video and crew meetings.

  • Price: "Free forever" plan; Premium shows $20 and $16 per user per month (the page does not label which is annual), so budget from $16.
  • Watch for: it covers video meetings, not phone calls to the shop, and it does not put notes into your scheduling software.

Free AI tools and trials for landscapers

  • Call notes: Fathom's free forever plan.
  • AI phone line: Goodcall's free demo agent, until you connect a number.
  • Trials: Housecall Pro 14 days (no credit card), Dooza Crew 7 days (card required).
  • Money-back: Trillet 28 days, Smith.ai 30 days.

How to choose an AI tool for your landscaping business

  1. Start with the leak. Missed calls, quotes that go quiet, measuring, or paperwork. Pick the one that costs you the most jobs.
  2. Check your software first. If you already pay for Jobber or Housecall Pro, ask what AI is built in before buying a second tool. Dooza Crew and the phone tools do not integrate with them.
  3. Count calls and properties. Smith.ai charges per call, Goodcall per unique caller and Deep Lawn per property quoted; Dooza Crew and Trillet are flat monthly prices (Trillet adds per-minute fees past 150).
  4. Keep sign-off human. Pick tools that ask before they send, and keep quotes, chemical and safety decisions with you.
  5. Test on one lead source for a week before you route every call to a bot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI tool for landscapers?

For a small landscaping or lawn care business, our top pick is Dooza Crew (our product): AI employees for the office jobs that eat your evenings, such as answering the phone, drafting quote follow-ups and filling forms, each with its own computer and browser, for $49 a month for the whole organization after a 7-day free trial. It asks before it sends anything. If you want AI inside your scheduling software, look at Jobber or Housecall Pro; for measuring lawns to quote, Deep Lawn.

How many landscaping companies use AI?

Few, according to the one landscape survey we found. The National Association of Landscape Professionals reported on a survey run by Aspire of over 1,000 landscape companies: only 17 percent said they were currently leveraging AI. The survey is from 2025 and Aspire sells landscaping software, so treat it as one data point.

Is there an AI receptionist for lawn care businesses?

Yes. Jobber has an AI Receptionist that books visits into your Jobber schedule, though its own pages give different prices, so check at checkout. Trillet is $49/mo with 150 minutes included, then $0.20/min. Goodcall starts at $79 a month. Smith.ai answers calls from $300 a month for 30 calls. Avoca has a lawn care page but no listed price. Dooza Crew agents also take phone calls, included in the $49 plan.

Can AI measure a lawn and write a quote?

Deep Lawn is a quoting tool that measures turf areas for each property, from $120/month, priced by how many properties you quote. You still check the numbers and set the price. Dooza Crew does not measure lawns.

Can AI decide what chemicals to apply or approve a tree removal?

No. Dooza Crew is not a licensed pesticide applicator or an arborist, and no landscaping software is integrated with it. It can draft follow-ups, sort documents you upload and fill fillable PDF forms, and it asks you to approve before it sends. Quotes, chemical decisions and safety calls stay with you.

Is there a free AI tool for landscapers?

Fathom has a free forever plan for call notes, and Goodcall lets you build and test a demo agent free and pay only when you connect a number. For trials: Housecall Pro 14 days with no credit card, and Dooza Crew 7 days (card required).
