Checked October 26, 2026. Prices were read on each vendor's own pricing page. Several roofing tools (AccuLynx, Avoca, JobNimbus and EagleView's AI) do not publish a price that we could read; we say so. Prices change: re-check before you buy. Dooza Crew is our product and our top pick for small roofing contractors; we say why, and where the others fit better.

Best AI tools for roofers: the short answer

Our top pick for a small roofing contractor is Dooza Crew: AI employees that answer calls, chase leads and estimates, and draft the follow-up emails you never get to, $49 a month for the whole organization, and it asks before it sends anything. For a roofing CRM with measurements and estimates, look at Roofr. For roofing-specific CRM with AI, JobNimbus or AccuLynx. For roof measurements, Hover or EagleView. For an AI front office on the phone, Avoca or Smith.ai. For call notes, Fathom has a free plan.

How many roofers use AI in 2026

Most roofing companies are still on the sidelines. ServiceTitan's 2026 Roofing and Exterior Market Report surveyed "more than 1,000 residential and commercial roofing-focused companies" and put the headline at "with 79% Not Using AI or External LLMs". Inside that: "only 4% using AI features built directly into their CRM, and 25% use external LLM tools".

ServiceTitan sells software to this market, so read the numbers as one vendor's survey, not a census. They do show something useful: AI inside the roofing CRM is rare, so the tool that answers your phone or drafts your follow-ups is often a separate product. The tools below cover both.

The tools, one by one

1. Dooza Crew (our product, top pick): AI employees for the roofing office

Most small roofers lose jobs in the gaps: a missed call from the ladder, an estimate that never got a follow-up, a form sitting in the truck. Crew gives your company AI employees, each with its own computer and browser and its own job. They work around the clock, work with your team in one chat, and pass work to each other. Before one sends an email or clicks Send, Submit or Pay, it asks you to Approve, Edit or Reject.

Example jobs you could give it: you could give one agent the job of answering the phone and taking a message for every new lead; another the job of drafting a polite follow-up to every estimate that has gone quiet; another the job of filling a fillable PDF or Excel form you upload, such as a customer intake sheet or a material list. Crew works in web-based tools you log in to with a browser, and you type passwords and 2FA codes yourself.

  • Forms: it fills fillable PDF, Word and Excel files you upload. Scanned PDFs without form fields cannot be filled.
  • Phones: Crew agents take phone calls too, included in the plan.
  • Price: free for 7 days (card required), then $49 a month for the whole organization (unlimited users and agents), AI usage included with a hard spending cap. At the cap it pauses and tells you.
  • Watch for: no roofing software (AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Roofr or any other) is integrated, so it will not write into your CRM on its own; it can only work in a web tool you log in to. It is not a licensed contractor or an insurance adjuster: estimates, scope, claim decisions and anything that needs a license stay with you.

Try Dooza Crew free for 7 days.

2. Roofr: roofing CRM, estimates and an AI receptionist

Roofr is a roofing platform that covers a CRM, instant estimates, proposals, measurement reports, invoicing and scheduling. Its AI add-on is the AI Receptionist: "Calls answered; visits booked; quotes given. Your AI Receptionist has it handled."

3. JobNimbus: roofing CRM with Analytics AI

JobNimbus is a CRM and project management tool for roofing. In an October 2026 release it launched Analytics AI: "Analytics AI is a paid add-on that layers a natural-language query tool on top of Analytics". It also has an AI phone receptionist and a voice assistant in beta.

  • Price: not published on the page we could read. Its pricing page returned an error to us on October 26, and the release lists no price, so ask JobNimbus.
  • Watch for: Analytics AI is paid on top of the plan, the voice assistant is in beta, and the details come from the vendor's own press material.

4. AccuLynx: roofing business software

AccuLynx runs a roofing company's sales and production. Its home page says "Sharpen strategies with AI-powered lead intelligence and real-time analytics."

  • Price: not published (contact sales). The pricing page has no dollar amounts, and cost depends on users and features.
  • Free trial: none stated; it offers demos.
  • Watch for: AI appears once on the home page and not on the pricing page, so ask exactly what the AI does before you sign.

5. Hover: measurements and estimates from photos

Hover turns a property into a 3D model and produces measurements and material lists for estimates. Its AI wording is thin: on the home page it appears only as link text for free design tools aimed at homeowners, so treat it as a measurement tool first.

6. EagleView: aerial roof measurement reports

EagleView sells roof measurement reports from aerial imagery. Its pricing page also announces "Introducing Eagleview Horizon: The Agentic AI Engine Powered by 25+ Years of Verified Property Intelligence".

  • Price: report prices are listed by volume tier and roof size, but the tier columns were not readable, so we do not quote a figure. The AI engine has no listed price, and larger accounts see "Call for pricing."
  • Free trial: none stated.
  • Watch for: per-report fees add up on a busy quoting week; check which tier you land in.

7. Housecall Pro: field service software with AI add-ons

Housecall Pro handles scheduling, dispatch and invoicing for home-service trades. Its pricing page promises "AI team members to automate your work" and a CSR AI add-on: "AI answers every call and chat, day or night so you schedule stays full."

8. Avoca: an AI front office for home services

Avoca lists roofing among the trades it serves and pitches "Always-on agents that answer every call, fill every board, and keep your team focused on the work that matters." It lists a ServiceTitan integration.

  • Price: not published. You book a 20-minute demo.
  • Free trial: none.
  • Watch for: demo-only and aimed at larger home-service companies, so it may be more than a three-truck crew needs.

9. Fathom: free AI notes for calls

Fathom records and transcribes video calls with "Instant AI call summaries". Useful for adjuster calls, homeowner walk-through calls and crew meetings held on video.

  • Price: "Free forever" plan; Premium shows $20 and $16 per user per month (the page does not label which is annual), so budget from $16.
  • Watch for: it does not put notes into your roofing software, and it covers calls on video meetings, not phone calls to the shop.

10. Smith.ai: call answering and intake

Smith.ai answers calls and takes messages and intake for small businesses. It is not roofing-specific.

Free AI tools and trials for roofers

  • CRM and estimates: Roofr's Starter plan, $0 with no time limit.
  • Call notes: Fathom's free forever plan.
  • Measurements: Hover, first 3 projects free.
  • Trials: Housecall Pro 14 days (no credit card), Dooza Crew 7 days (card required).

How to choose an AI tool for your roofing company

  1. Start with the leak. Missed calls, estimates that go quiet, paperwork, or measuring. Pick the one that costs you the most jobs.
  2. Check your CRM first. If you already pay for Roofr, JobNimbus or AccuLynx, ask what AI is built in before buying a second tool. Dooza Crew and the call tools do not integrate with them.
  3. Count calls and projects. Smith.ai charges per call and Hover per project; Roofr's receptionist and Dooza Crew are flat monthly prices.
  4. Keep sign-off human. Pick tools that ask before they send, and keep pricing, scope, licensing and insurance claim decisions with you.
  5. Test on one lead source for a week before you route every call to a bot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI tool for roofers?

For a small roofing contractor, our top pick is Dooza Crew (our product): AI employees for the office jobs that eat your evenings, such as answering the phone, drafting follow-ups and filling forms, each with its own computer and browser, for $49 a month for the whole organization after a 7-day free trial. It asks before it sends anything. For a roofing CRM with measurements, look at Roofr; for roofing-specific CRM with AI, JobNimbus or AccuLynx; for an AI receptionist, Roofr's add-on or Avoca.

How many roofing companies use AI?

Few, according to the one large roofing survey we found. ServiceTitan's 2026 Roofing and Exterior Market Report, which surveyed more than 1,000 residential and commercial roofing-focused companies, found 79% not using AI or external LLMs, only 4% using AI features built directly into their CRM, and 25% using external LLM tools. ServiceTitan is a software vendor, so treat it as one data point.

Is there an AI receptionist for roofers?

Yes. Roofr sells an AI Receptionist add-on at $99/mo or $85/mo billed yearly. JobNimbus has an AI phone receptionist (AssistAI) but its price was not published on a page we could read. Avoca is an AI front office for home services, with a demo and no listed price. Smith.ai answers calls from $300 a month. Dooza Crew agents also take phone calls, included in the $49 plan.

Can AI measure a roof or write an estimate?

Measurement tools such as Hover and EagleView produce roof measurements from imagery, and Roofr sells measurement reports and instant estimates. They save a site visit for quoting, but you still check the numbers and decide the price. Dooza Crew does not measure roofs.

Can AI handle insurance claims for me?

Not safely. Dooza Crew is not a licensed contractor or an insurance adjuster, and no roofing software is integrated with it. It can draft follow-ups, sort documents you upload and fill fillable PDF forms, and it asks you to approve before it sends. Scope, pricing, claim decisions and anything that needs a license stay with you.

Is there a free AI tool for roofers?

Roofr's Starter plan is $0 with no time limit, Fathom has a free forever plan for call notes, and Hover gives your first 3 projects for free. For trials: Housecall Pro 14 days with no credit card, and Dooza Crew 7 days (card required).
