Checked October 26, 2026. Prices were read on each vendor's own pricing page. BQE CORE does not publish prices and Monograph shows only a calculator range; we say so. Prices change: re-check before you buy. Dooza Crew is our product and our top pick for the business side of a small practice; we say why, and where the design tools fit better. We dropped ArchiOffice because its vendor site could not be read.

Best AI tools for architects: the short answer

Our top pick for the business side of a small architecture firm is Dooza Crew: AI employees for the jobs that crowd out design, such as chasing proposals, checking product pricing and filling forms, $49 a month for the whole organization, and it asks before it sends anything. On the design side, Veras renders from your Revit, SketchUp or Rhino model from $29 a month billed yearly, Snaptrude has an AI design agent with a $0 plan, and Maket generates floor plans from $20 a month. For project finance, Monograph's calculator shows $45 to $490 a month by firm size, while BQE CORE does not publish prices.

Who this list is for

This list is for small architecture firms, from a solo practice to a team of roughly twenty, where principals also run proposals, billing and the phone. Adoption is still early. The AIA's 2025 study of the profession found "Only 6 percent of the profession regularly use AI for their jobs." It also found "only 8 percent of firms have implemented AI solutions into their practice, with a further 20 percent currently working on implementing solutions." and noted that it is "driven significantly more by large firms (50+ employees)". That study was published March 11, 2025; we found no newer AIA figure.

A small practice needs three kinds of help: AI for design and visualization, software for project finance and time, and help with the office work and the phone. The tools below fall into those groups. Of the two practice management tools, neither names an AI feature on the pages we read, so we list them as the system AI tools sit beside, not as AI tools.

The tools, one by one

1. Dooza Crew (our product, top pick): AI employees for the business side

Crew gives an architecture firm AI employees, each with its own computer and browser and its own job. They work around the clock, work with your team in one chat, and pass work to each other. They work in the web-based tools you log in to with a browser, and Crew agents take phone calls too, included in the plan. Before an agent sends an email or clicks Send, Submit or Pay, it asks you to Approve, Edit or Reject.

Some jobs you could give it:

  • Proposals: you could give one agent the job of drafting follow-up emails to prospects who have not answered a proposal, for you to approve before anything is sent.
  • Product research: you could give one agent the job of checking prices and lead times for materials and products on supplier websites and putting them in a spreadsheet.
  • Forms: you could give one agent the job of filling the fillable PDF, Word and Excel forms you upload, such as a vendor or insurance form. Scanned PDFs without form fields cannot be filled. You type passwords and 2FA codes yourself.
  • Calls: you could give one agent the job of answering the phone, taking the caller's name and number and a short message, and posting it to your team chat.
  • Price: free for 7 days (card required), then $49 a month for the whole organization (unlimited users and agents), AI usage included with a hard spending cap. At the cap it pauses and tells you.
  • Watch for: it is not a licensed architect and does no design or stamping. No architecture software (Monograph, BQE CORE, Revit, SketchUp) is certified or integrated with it, so it does not sync with your practice management system; it works only in web tools you log in to. Test yours during the trial.

2. Monograph: project management and finance for A&E firms

Monograph's pricing page lists pipeline management, a proposal builder, staffing, time tracking, invoicing, project accounting and capacity planning. Its description says "Unlimited projects and reports, project accounting, and onboarding included." We found no AI feature named on the page we read.

3. BQE CORE: time, billing and accounting

BQE CORE covers time and expense tracking, billing and invoicing, project management, accounting and resource planning, plus CORE Pursuit, "The CRM built to help A&E firms win more work." The pricing page says "Per-user pricing that's clear and intuitive." We found no AI feature named on it.

  • Price: not published. Each module shows "Request Quote".
  • Watch for: no public price, no trial stated (only a demo), and no AI named. ArchiOffice, BQE's older small-firm product, could not be verified: its own site served an expired certificate when we tried it, so we left it out.

4. Veras: AI rendering inside your modeling software

Veras is "an AI-powered visualization app that plugs into your design authoring app" and has a web version. It lists plug-ins for SketchUp, Autodesk Revit, Rhinoceros and Autodesk Forma.

  • Price: named license $59 a month billed monthly, or $29 a month billed yearly at $348 a year; a floating license is $51 a month billed annually at $612 a year (Veras pricing).
  • Trial: "Get 30 renders and a 15 day trial on us for free!"
  • Watch for: it makes images from your model, not drawings or permit documents, and a render is a mood, not a design check.

5. Snaptrude: AI concept design

Snaptrude's pricing page is titled "Pricing - Snaptrude | The AI-Powered Concept Design Platform". The free plan lists an "AI design agent", and Pro adds BIM mode, exports and drawing sheets to PDF.

  • Price: Free $0 a month with 75 credits per week and 1 free project; Pro $50 a month ($600 billed yearly); Organization $100 per seat a month with 2,500 credits per seat a month (Snaptrude pricing).
  • Trial: the free plan says "No card needed".
  • Watch for: AI use is metered in credits, and it is a concept tool; check that Pro exports fit your documentation workflow.

6. Maket: AI floor plans, mostly for homes

Maket generates floor plans and renders from credits: "Generate or upload a floor plan for 20 credits per floor, then refine the way your home flows for 5 credits per optimization."

  • Price: Free $0 with 30 AI credits; Homeowner $20 a month with 300 AI credits; Pro $100 a month with 3,000 credits (Maket pricing).
  • Trial: "Maket doesn't use a time-limited free trial." The free plan gives 30 one-time credits with no credit card required.
  • Watch for: it is aimed at home layouts, so it fits residential concept studies better than commercial work, and paid-plan credits expire monthly.

7. Smith.ai AI Receptionist: a free plan to start

Smith.ai's AI Receptionist answers calls 24/7, with a free plan headed "Try it and trust it first."

  • Price: Free $0 a month for 25 calls ($3.00 per call after that); Pro $150 a month ($2.00 per call) (Smith.ai AI Receptionist pricing).
  • Watch for: a general small-business tool with no architecture setup that we could confirm; you decide what it says about fees and availability.

8. Rosie: a low-cost AI answering service

Rosie is a "24/7 AI answering service that knows your business." It answers calls, books appointments and captures leads.

9. Otter: meeting notes

Otter records and transcribes meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. Its pricing page lists a Basic plan that is Free with "300 monthly transcription minutes"; the Pro plan is paid, so read the current price on the page.

  • Watch for: a generic cloud service. Tell clients and consultants you are recording, and check its notes against your own before you issue meeting minutes.

Free AI tools and trials for architects

  • Free plans: Snaptrude (75 credits per week), Maket (30 one-time credits), Smith.ai AI Receptionist (25 calls a month), Otter Basic.
  • Trials: Veras 30 renders and 15 days, Rosie 7 days, Dooza Crew 7 days (card required).
  • Demo or quote only: Monograph, BQE CORE.

Trust and checking the work

An AI render looks finished long before it is correct. Check every generated plan or image against the brief, the site and the building code, and never let an AI output stand in for a drawing you will be responsible for. Design decisions, code compliance and the seal stay with the licensed architect. Before you route your main line to any AI, run test calls, including a client in a hurry and a contractor asking about a change, listen to the recordings, and decide what it may never say, such as fees or a promise about a deadline. With Dooza Crew, agents ask you to Approve, Edit or Reject before they send an email or click Send, Submit or Pay, which keeps you the last stop on anything that leaves the office.

How to choose an AI tool for your firm

  1. Start with the job that costs you most. Rendering time, missed calls, proposal follow-up, or the paperwork that piles up at night.
  2. Check your current software first. If you already run Monograph or BQE CORE, ask what AI it plans to add before you buy another tool.
  3. Do the math your way. Veras, Snaptrude and Maket price by seat or credits, Smith.ai by call, Rosie by tier, Dooza Crew as one price for the organization.
  4. Keep design and stamping with the architect. AI can render, draft, take notes and fill forms; the design, the code check and the seal stay with you.
  5. Test before you switch. Use the free plan or trial on a real project for a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best AI tool for a small architecture firm?

It depends on the job. For the business side of a small practice, our top pick is Dooza Crew (our product): AI employees with their own computer and browser for jobs such as chasing proposals, checking supplier or product pricing and filling forms, $49 a month for the whole organization after a 7-day free trial, and it asks before it sends anything. For design work, look at Veras for rendering and Snaptrude or Maket for concept layouts. For project finance, look at Monograph or BQE CORE.

Can AI do architectural design work?

AI tools can render, generate concept layouts and speed up ideas, but they do not replace a licensed architect. Veras makes images from your model, Snaptrude has an AI design agent for concept design, and Maket generates floor plans mostly for homes. Dooza Crew does no design and no stamping; design decisions, code compliance and the seal stay with the licensed architect.

How much do AI tools for architects cost?

Prices we read on October 26, 2026: Veras $59 a month on a monthly license or $29 a month billed yearly; Snaptrude Pro $50 a month billed yearly; Maket Homeowner $20 a month and Pro $100 a month; Monograph shows a calculator range of $45 to $490 a month depending on firm size; Rosie starts at $49 a month; Smith.ai has a $0 plan. BQE CORE does not publish prices. Dooza Crew is $49 a month for the whole organization.

Does Dooza Crew work with Revit, SketchUp, Monograph or BQE CORE?

No. We claim no integration with any design or practice management software, and none is certified. Crew agents work in web-based tools you log in to with a browser, so ask in the free trial whether your tool works that way. Crew is not a licensed architect and does no design or stamping.

Is there a free AI tool for architects?

Yes, several have free entry points. Veras offers 30 renders and a 15-day trial, Snaptrude has a $0 plan with 75 credits per week and one project, Maket gives 30 one-time credits with no card, Smith.ai has a free receptionist plan with 25 calls a month, and Dooza Crew has a 7-day free trial with a card required.

How many architects use AI?

Not many yet. The American Institute of Architects reported in March 2025 that "Only 6 percent of the profession regularly use AI for their jobs" and that "only 8 percent of firms have implemented AI solutions into their practice, with a further 20 percent currently working on implementing solutions," driven mainly by large firms of 50 or more employees. That is the 2025 AIA study; we found no newer AIA figure.
