Coding Is Dead. Long Live Engineering.

It’s March 2026. The days of fighting with syntax or spending hours debugging a missing semicolon feel like a distant memory. AI agents now handle the implementation details that used to consume 70% of our sprints.

Does that mean the Full Stack Engineer is obsolete?

At Dooza, I'm seeing the exact opposite. We aren't writing less; we're building more. The role has shifted from Editor (typing code) to Chief Architect (orchestrating systems).

We are no longer limited by how fast we can type, but by how clearly we can think.

The new core skills for 2026:

• System Design over Syntax: It doesn't matter if you know the React API by heart. It matters if you know when to use it versus a server-side framework.
• AI Orchestration: Managing the "team" of AI agents is now a technical skill. Knowing how to decompose a complex feature into agent-sized tasks is the new "senior dev" superpower.
• Human Connection: As technical barriers drop, soft skills rise. The ability to align a team on a shared vision is the one thing the AI still can't do for us.

We aren't just coders anymore. We are system creators. And frankly, it's the most exciting time to be an engineer.
