Perplexity Computer alternatives: the short answer
For a hosted all-rounder with a cloud browser, try Manus. If you already pay $20 a month for ChatGPT or Claude, use ChatGPT Work or Claude first. If you live in Google apps, try Gemini Spark. For an always-on agent, try Genspark Claw or Grok Bot. To spend nothing, use Meta Muse (US), OpenClaw or Hermes Agent. For a small business that wants a team of agents working next to its staff, try Dooza Crew.

The alternatives, one by one
1. Manus: the closest all-in-one match
Manus does research, websites and slides end to end. Its cloud browser can visit sites, click buttons and fill forms, and you can log into your own accounts in it.
- Price: $20/mo for 4,000 credits, $40 for 8,000, $200 for 40,000, plus 300 refresh credits a day; save 17% yearly (Manus pricing, checked October 26, 2026).
- Watch for: Like Perplexity, it bills in credits, and credits per task are not published. See Manus alternatives.
2. ChatGPT Work: best if you already pay for ChatGPT
OpenAI says "Work is an agent designed for longer, multi-step work and finished deliverables." Its cloud browser runs on a separate computer in the cloud.
- Price: Included in ChatGPT Plus at $20/mo (OpenAI help, checked October 26, 2026); Pro is $100, $200 or $500/mo.
- Watch for: OpenAI says Work usage "will vary by task", and some websites block its cloud browser. See ChatGPT Work alternatives.
3. Claude (Cowork): best for work on your own files
Cowork is now part of Claude. Anthropic says "Cowork runs your sessions remotely in the cloud" and reaches local files or your browser through the Claude Desktop app.
- Price: Pro is $20/mo, or $17/mo billed yearly; Max from $100/mo (Claude pricing, checked October 26, 2026). Cowork needs a paid plan.
- Watch for: Multi-step tasks use more of your usage than quick questions, and sessions cannot be shared with others. See Claude Cowork alternatives.
4. Genspark: an AI employee in the cloud or on your machine
Genspark's Claw is "your first AI employee". It runs on a dedicated cloud computer, or locally through the desktop app with no Cloud Computer subscription.
- Price: Free plan with 100 credits a day up to a lifetime limit; Plus $24.99/mo ($19.99 billed yearly); Pro $249.99/mo; Team $40/seat/mo (Genspark help center, checked October 26, 2026).
- Watch for: The cloud version of Claw needs a separate Cloud Computer subscription whose price is not on the help page. See Genspark alternatives.
5. Gemini Spark: best if you live in Google apps
Google calls Spark "your 24/7 personal AI agent". With your permission, "Spark can use your logged-in accounts and saved passwords" in Chrome, and it hands payments back to you.
6. Grok Bot: always-on bots with their own computer
xAI says "Bots have their own computer." They sign into your tools and "only come back when something needs your approval."
- Price: Grok Bot is included from Premium at $30/mo; Super is $100/mo and Ultra $200/mo (xAI pricing, checked October 26, 2026).
- Watch for: xAI still calls Grok Bot a beta. See Grok Bot vs Claude Cowork.
Muse is "a personal AI agent" that runs on a dedicated secure computer with its own browser.
- Price: Meta says it is free for most of what people need, with paid plans on top.
- Watch for: Rolling out in the US only, and built for one person, not a team.
8. OpenClaw and Hermes Agent: free and self-hosted
OpenClaw (MIT) runs on your own computer and answers in WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram and 20+ more apps. Hermes Agent (MIT) has memory and a built-in scheduler.
- Price: Free software. You pay for the AI model and wherever you run it.
- Watch for: Setup, security, updates and model bills are on you. See Hermes Agent vs OpenClaw.
9. Dooza Crew (our product): a team of agents for a small business
You tell Dooza, your master agent, the job in plain words from the web or your phone; it plans it, builds the helper agents it needs (a researcher, a writer, an outreach agent) and reports back. Each agent has its own computer and browser in a private, isolated workspace; you watch every step live in chat.
- Price: Free for 7 days (card required), then $49/mo per organization (unlimited users and agents) with AI usage included and a hard spending cap. Cancel before day 8 and you pay nothing.
- Watch for: It is built for everyday business work, not one-off deep research. For a cited research report with premium data, Perplexity is stronger.

Free Perplexity Computer alternatives
- For search and quick research: Perplexity's own Ask searches and Comet's Search mode do not use credits. The free plans of Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini also cover chat.
- For a free hosted agent: Meta Muse (US) or Genspark's free credits.
- For a free agent you control: OpenClaw or Hermes Agent; budget for the AI model.
How to test a Perplexity Computer replacement in one afternoon
- Run the same 3 tasks in each tool: one research report you already know the answer to, one small dashboard or doc, and one "find X on these sites and put it in a sheet" job.
- Click the sources. Dead or made-up links are the fastest sign of a weak agent.
- Price it per finished task, not per credit. Perplexity shows credits per thread in its Usage dropdown; note the same for each tool.
- Look for a spending cap. Leave auto-refill off while you test, and check what each agent does before it sends, books or pays.
