Checked October 23, 2026. Every price and quote below was read on the vendor's own pricing or help page that day and is linked in place. Prices are US dollars and can change; where a vendor's page did not show a monthly price we could read, we say so. Dooza Crew is our product; we list it last and say where it falls short.
Short answer
For email and calendar work that waits for your OK, pick Lindy (from $29.99 a month) or Pally (free). For web errands, pick ChatGPT Plus ($20), Claude Pro ($20) or Google AI Pro ($19.99). Genspark and Manus suit research and slides. Dooza Crew (ours) is $49 with $20 of AI usage, and asks before it sends or pays.

The options, one by one
ChatGPT Plus (ChatGPT Work)
Plus is $20 a month, billed monthly. OpenAI has replaced "ChatGPT agent" with ChatGPT Work. Its cloud browser can "read web pages, click buttons, enter information into forms" and is available on paid plans "excluding Free and Go." OpenAI says ChatGPT "is designed to request confirmation before actions that could be hard to reverse," such as "confirming a booking or making a payment," and asks in chat.
- Best for: people who already use ChatGPT and want occasional web errands with a payment check.
Claude Pro (Claude in Chrome)
Claude Pro is $17 a month billed yearly ($200 up front) or $20 billed monthly, and Claude in Chrome is included on paid plans. Anthropic's permissions guide lists three modes; in "Manually approve," "Claude checks with you before it acts." Claude is "prohibited from" "making purchases or financial transactions" in any mode. The catch: "Automatically approve" is the default, so switch it before you let Claude near your inbox.
- Best for: people who want to set, task by task, how much the agent does alone.
Google AI Pro (Chrome auto browse)
Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month in the US and includes "Access to Chrome auto browse" and "Access to tasks in Gemini". Pro allows up to 20 auto-browse requests per day. Google's Chrome help page says Gemini "aims to ask for your review and confirmation" before sending communications, and asks you to take over for "finalizing financial transactions." It also says: "You're responsible for Gemini's actions during a task, including mistakes and unexpected results like purchases."
- Best for: Chrome and Gmail users who want light web errands.
Pally
Pally's pricing page (updated October 18, 2026) says Pally "is free, with almost unlimited usage limits," and that older $25 Pro and $100 Max plans "no longer exist." You text it over iMessage, RCS, WhatsApp or Telegram, and it connects to Gmail, Outlook, Slack and Google Calendar. It "completes bookings and purchases on the web for you, and checks with you first on anything you haven't already asked for or approved." The usage limit refills through the week.
- Best for: people who want an assistant they text, at no cost.
Lindy
Lindy's Team plan starts at $29.99 a month for 3,000 credits; 5,000 credits is $49.99, and top-ups are $10 per 1,000. A free trial gives $50 of credits that last 7 days. Its FAQ is direct: "Anything with outside impact waits for approval, such as sending an email." Computer use is listed "on Pro and Max," not Team.
- Best for: inbox and meeting-scheduling work where you want every send approved.
Genspark Plus
Genspark Plus is $24.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly at $239.99. It starts "from 10,000 credits per month," plus a weekly free quota for Standard-mode tasks across Super Agent, AI Slides, AI Sheets and AI Docs. We found no approval-before-send policy on the plan page.
Manus
The Manus pricing page shows its entry plan with 4,000 credits a month, 300 refresh credits every day and 20 scheduled tasks; the price renders as an animation we could not read as text, so check the page. Its browser operator docs say Manus "will ask for permission to control your browser." We found no per-email or per-payment approval statement.
Perplexity Pro
Perplexity Pro shows "$17 /month or equivalent, when billed annually," with "Expanded Computer access." The page did not show a monthly-billing price. The Comet permissions article covers admin controls for Enterprise teams, not personal plans.
- Best for: research with sources.
Motion
Motion's pricing page shows Pro AI from $19 per seat a month billed yearly (the page says yearly saves 33%; monthly costs more), with 7,500 credits per seat. It plans your tasks and calendar; it is not a web-browsing or email-sending agent.
- Best for: people whose problem is the calendar, not the inbox.
Christine
Christine is "$49/month," "an AI secretary on iMessage," with "500 actions per month on the Starter plan" through Google Workspace. Its page does not say whether it asks before sending.
- Best for: Google Workspace users who want to text a secretary.
Dooza Crew (our product)
Dooza Crew gives you a lead agent, Dooza, that plans the job, does it and reports back, and builds helper agents (a researcher, a writer, an outreach agent) as you need them. They browse the web, fill forms and write files in a private, isolated workspace, and you chat with them on the web or your phone. Before an agent sends or pays, it asks you in chat: Approve, Edit or Reject. Each account has a hard cap on AI spend.
Honest limits: seats are limited, with a waitlist when full, and $20 of AI usage is included each month. Price: 7-day free trial (card needed), then $49 a month including $20 of AI usage (crew.dooza.ai).
- Best for: small business owners who want research and admin done by a team of agents, and want to sign off before anything goes out.
Try Dooza Crew free for 7 days, or compare it with ChatGPT Work and Claude.
How to choose a personal AI agent under $50
- Name the job. Inbox and calendar: Lindy, Pally, Christine. Web errands: ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, Google AI Pro. Research and slides: Genspark, Manus, Perplexity. Planning: Motion.
- Check it asks before it sends or pays. Look for it on the vendor's own help page, then test it: ask it to email you and watch whether it stops. Our guide to AI agents that ask for approval covers nine agents.
- Price the credits, not the sticker. Run a typical task on the free tier and see how many credits it used before you pick a plan.
- Compare monthly with monthly. Several pages lead with the annual price.
- Check the defaults. Claude in Chrome starts in "Automatically approve"; change it on day one.
