Checked October 22, 2026. Prices were read on each vendor's own pricing or help page that day; some pages (Manus, Genspark, ChatGPT) load prices behind JavaScript or a login, so we used that morning's read. Prices change: re-check before you buy. Dooza Crew is our product; we list it last and say where others fit better.
Manus alternatives: the short answer
For a hosted all-rounder like Manus, try Genspark. If you already pay $20 a month for ChatGPT or Claude, use ChatGPT Work or Claude Cowork first. To self-host for free, use OpenClaw or Hermes Agent. For a small business that wants a team of agents working next to its staff, with approvals and a spending cap, try Dooza Crew.
What happened to Manus
- December 29, 2025: Meta agreed to buy Manus, reported at more than $2 billion (TechCrunch).
- April 27, 2026: China blocked the deal (Bloomberg).
- June 2026: Meta cut Manus off from its internal systems (TechCrunch).
- August 2026: Manus resumed independent operations and said it had to delete some user data as part of the split (TechCrunch, Oct 8).
- October 8, 2026: Manus announced a funding round of more than $500 million and launched Manus 2.0 (same TechCrunch report).
So Manus is not going away. People are looking around because of the turmoil, the lost data, and credit bills that are hard to predict.

The alternatives, one by one
1. Genspark: the closest all-in-one match
Genspark's Super Agent does research, slides, docs and sheets, and can even place phone calls for you. Its "Claw" is an always-on AI employee that runs on "a dedicated cloud computer provisioned just for you".
- Price: Plus $24.99/mo or $19.99/mo billed yearly, from 10,000 credits a month. Free plan: 100 credits a day (Genspark plans).
- Watch for: Credits don't roll over, and there is no published table of credits per task.
More detail: Genspark vs Manus.
2. ChatGPT Work: best if you already pay for ChatGPT
ChatGPT Work replaced ChatGPT agent (OpenAI help). It handles longer jobs, research, documents, spreadsheets and presentations, with its own browser on a computer in the cloud.
- Price: Included in ChatGPT Plus at $20/mo, with limited usage. OpenAI does not publish a fixed monthly task count.
- Watch for: Usage limits on Plus are not spelled out, so heavy users hit walls.
3. Claude Cowork: best for work on your own files
Cowork is Claude's agent mode. It works on files on your Mac or Windows computer and uses your own logged-in Chrome, and scheduled tasks can run in the cloud (Anthropic help).
- Price: Included in Pro at $20/mo, or $17/mo billed yearly; Max from $100/mo (Claude pricing).
- Watch for: Local work needs the desktop app open. Anthropic says its prompt-injection safeguards reduce but "cannot eliminate" the risk.
More detail: Manus vs Claude Cowork.
4. Perplexity Computer and Comet: best for research
Comet is Perplexity's AI browser for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android (Comet). Perplexity Computer is a cloud agent that turns research into finished work.
- Price: Pro is $17/mo billed yearly, with bonus Computer credits marked "limited time"; Max is $167/mo billed yearly (Perplexity Pro).
- Watch for: Computer runs on credits, and the bonus credits are a promotion.
5. Lindy: best for repeat workflows across your apps
Lindy is an AI employee that connects to 1,500+ apps and can be reached from Slack, iMessage, email or a Chrome extension (Lindy).
- Price: Team $49.99/mo per active user with 5,000 pooled credits; the free plan gives $50 of credits for 7 days (Lindy pricing).
- Watch for: Lindy says everyday asks use 2 to 250 credits and big builds up to 2,500, so the bill is hard to predict.
Muse is "a personal AI agent" Meta launched in September 2026, with its own computer and web browser. It checks with you before it sends email or buys anything.
- Price: Meta says it is free for most of what people need, with paid plans on top.
- Watch for: US and Canada only, and built for one person, not a team.
7. Kortix (formerly Suna): open source with a hosted option
Kortix calls itself "the open-source AI Operating System". Agents run on cloud sandbox computers with any model you choose.
- Price: Free plan with 500 credits a month; $200/mo for 20,000 credits; models are billed separately or with your own key (Kortix pricing).
- Watch for: Built for developers. If you self-host, setup and upkeep are yours.
8. OpenClaw: free, self-hosted, in your chat apps
OpenClaw runs on your own computer and answers in WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, iMessage and more. It is MIT-licensed with "no paid tier, hosted service, or token".
- Price: Free software. You pay for the AI model and wherever you run it.
- Watch for: Security, updates and model bills are on you. See OpenClaw alternatives.
9. Hermes Agent: an always-on agent that remembers
Hermes Agent from Nous Research is a "self-improving AI agent" with memory, skills and a scheduler, reachable from Telegram, Discord, Slack or WhatsApp.
Also consider: Dooza Crew (our product)
Dooza Crew is a hosted team of AI agents for small businesses. You brief a lead agent in plain words from the web or your phone; it splits the job across helper agents. Each agent has its own computer and a real browser, and saves work to your files. Invite your staff into the same chat. Nothing is sent until a person approves it, and AI spend has a hard cap.
- Price: Free for 7 days (card required), then $49/mo with $20 of AI usage included.
- Watch for: It is built for everyday business work, not one-off website or slide generation; Manus or Genspark fit those better.

How to test a Manus replacement in one afternoon
- Run the same 3 tasks in each tool: one article, one research question you already know the answer to, and one "find X on these sites and put it in a doc" job.
- Click the sources. Dead or made-up links are the fastest sign of a weak agent.
- Price it per finished task, not per credit. Note how many credits each of your 3 tasks used.
- Check where your data lives and how to export it. After the Manus data deletion, this matters.
- Look for a spending cap. A looping agent on pay-as-you-go is how surprise bills happen.
When to stay with Manus
If Manus does your work well and you have exported what you need, there is no urgent reason to move: it has fresh funding and shipped Manus 2.0 in October 2026. Switch when a test like the one above shows another tool doing your hardest task better or cheaper.
