Claude Cowork vs Copilot Cowork: the short answer

Both carry out tasks for you and ask before sensitive actions. Pick Copilot Cowork if your company already runs on Microsoft 365, Outlook and Teams and can pay for a Copilot license plus usage. Claude Cowork

Cowork is the agent mode in Claude, and the pricing page now says "Claude Cowork is now just Claude." It is "available to paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) only."

Before you buy: for local files, browser use and computer use you need "The Claude Desktop app for macOS or Windows, open and connected." Anthropic is also candid that its prompt injection safeguards "cannot eliminate" the risk.

Copilot Cowork

Copilot Cowork is the agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. "Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork is generally available to all Microsoft 365 Copilot tenants worldwide in tier-1 languages." For personal Microsoft accounts it is still in preview.

Before you buy: it needs Microsoft 365 with Copilot, the web tasks need Edge, and Cowork is billed by usage on top of your license.

Pricing

Claude Cowork (claude.com/pricing, October 22, 2026): not on the Free plan. Pro $20 a month billed monthly, or $17 a month billed annually. Max from $100 a month. Team, for 2 to 150 people: the premium seat, which includes Claude Code and Claude Cowork, is $125 a month billed monthly or $100 billed annually.

Copilot Cowork (Microsoft US business pricing, October 22, 2026): every business plan lists Copilot Cowork as "Usage-based". Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot is $23.50 and Business Premium with Copilot $32.00 per user a month, paid yearly; the Copilot Business add-on for existing Business customers is from $18.00, a first-year promotional price paid yearly. Microsoft notes that usage-based AI features "may result in charges based on usage, beyond your license fees."

Which should you pick?

  • Pick Copilot Cowork if your team already lives in Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint, and you want tasks triggered by new email or Teams messages.
  • Pick Claude Cowork if you want a known monthly price, your work lives in files on your own computer and in Chrome, and you want to choose between Manual, Auto and Skip approvals.

What if you run a small business?

Neither Cowork offers phone calls on the pages we checked (Oct 22, 2026). A small business usually needs leads called back, appointments confirmed and customers answered on several channels, with staff able to see and approve the work in one place.

That is what Dooza Crew does. A master agent creates a team of AI employees, each with its own computer, a real browser, a phone number and a card for purchases you approve. Your staff and AI employees work in one group chat, and nothing is sent or paid until a person you choose approves it. Free for 7 days, then $49 a month for your whole crew, with $20 of AI usage included.
